Find A Way
Right now I am in one of those dark places in terms of training. I have not put in enough time, I have low fitness, and I have raced zero times this year to get my chops up and legs ready. I don’t have any excuses… Other things were just more important this year in terms of focus. Regardless, I will power through it.
I feel like this journey to Kona will be full of ups and downs, this is just one of the downs. During an Ironman things are fun but at certain points it becomes a complete hell on earth and it’s no longer fun, it becomes a complete grinding suffer fest… Honestly right now I am in one of those grinding phases with parenting, work, life, and training where it’s just not fun anymore. So this parallel to Ironman and life makes a lot of sense to me right now. We cannot quit the race when it stops being fun just like we can’t stop the journey when it starts sucking. We embrace the suck and find a way. It might not be fast, it might not be pretty, but it must get done regardless. At the end of the journey no one will care about how pretty Ironman #6 and #7 looked.
Stay Fully Alive out there, be seen, be alert, and #DoWork. @headsweats doesn’t just have high performance headwear, they have massively reflective hats and visors that make sure you’re seen. I just gotta come home to my son Boston, can’t risk it. 5 miles down! #BeRelentless #NightShift #BeSafe #imKONA #ironmantraining
